...but sometimes you do.

“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”
Chapter 11 of To Kill a Mockingbird

Overflowing with Inspiration

Last night I attended The Cream Event and it was awesome. The level of creativity, fun and shared sense of entrepreneurship was at an all time high. It was extremely inspiring to see so many high caliber vendors gathered in one place putting their best foot forward. There was an exhibit for every aspect of a wedding or event. Each vendor was able to set up their space to show off their skills, whether it be a beautiful table scape complete with gold rimmed chalices or a beauty bar of headbands and sequined heart pins. I got to see it all last night and it did not disappoint! I do have to admit that one of the BEST parts of the night was the array of delicious food. A standout were the hot off the press, glazed, salt and pepper donuts that almost knocked me off my feet. Pure perfection. Here are a few photos from the event...excuse the blurry ones - I was busy juggling donuts and cucumber cocktails. Oh and did I mention I met Ryan Gosling?! All 4 of him ;)

{My Happiness Project} Part 1: Identify your aims

*What makes you feel good? What gives you joy, energy, fun?*

Being creative and productive. Having an idea, planning it out and doing it. Being considered and considerate. Sharing and listening to advice, dreams and laughs with friends. Dancing. Singing. Loving animals. Traveling to a new country. Trying a new type of food. Being cautiously spontaneous. Speaking my truth.

*What makes you feel bad? What brings you anger, guilt, boredom, dread?*

Stagnancy. Stiffness. Disrespect. Dishonesty. Status quo. Not speaking up for myself. Jealousy. Not following through.

*What makes you feel right? What values to you want your life to reflect?*

Love. Generosity. Honesty. Leaving it better than when I started. Being a part of that which matters to me. Warm fuzzies.

*How can you build an atmosphere of growth - where you learn, explore, build, teach, help?*

I need to make use of my free time doing the things that I want to pursue. I must start small and build my skills to create something of my own. I need to write down my ideas, develop them and act upon them.

*Photo from my wedding day; probably my most favorite accomplishment - a celebration of love exactly as we wanted it. A great example for myself of what I can do when I am excited about doing it.}

Disconnect

While rushing out of the house this morning I forgot my cell phone...it felt nice. A little panicky at first, 'how would I get a hold of someone if there was an emergency', 'what if I'm receiving texts and can't respond'...but then I just let go and realized I was no longer preoccupied with who is texting, tagging or posting. I went through the day engaging with people in person and focusing on my own thoughts. Then I came across this article and thought, yep, I must maintain my daily dose of deep thinking.
