Saturday October 23rd, 2010...I woke up early on Saturday to work at the Nixon Sample Sale.  It was my first one and I was shocked to see the line in the parking lot.  There was a buzz of excitement as everyone sifted through the product and I got a few great deals myself. After mingling with friends and heading home Jerome and I made plans to eat a late breakfast at Beach Grass Cafe. They never fail to dazzle us with deliciousness, specifically the house turkey hash stocked with breakfast potatoes, fresh roasted turkey, rosemary and green onions. yum.  After a wonderful meal, without a cloud in the sky, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and hike through San Elijo Lagoon, a nature reserve we hadn't been to in almost 5 years.  As we were walking I pointed out the bunches of ducks swimming and playing and we stopped to watch fish jumping in the water. I know, it sounds surreal, but the day really was that incredible.  Making our way to the natural caves we squeezed through the passages and found ourselves at the top of a hill. Looking out onto the lagoon I suddenly realized and blurted out "This is the place I first said 'I love you'" and as we hugged he reached down into his pocket and pulled out a miniature Tiffany's satchel that held the most beautiful ring I could ever imagine.  Jerome pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and expressed his love for me and his dream for us. It was unexpected, beautiful, perfectly executed and so us. so. us.

There was no way to prepare for the excitement that a simple piece of jewelry could bring. Ok, it of course isn't just the ring that changes everything but somehow it feels like it is. As if we had been cruising along, in love and committed, and then this ring appeared and it all became real. I cannot use enough emphasis in these words to express my excitement.

YES Jerome! YES. YES. YES. I am honored to be your fiancée and love you with all of my heart.

I am ready to reduce my collection of stuff and pursue my desire to go more places and have more experiences.  I guess it is no longer simply a desire but more of an urgent need to be on an adventure.  Lots of ideas are being thrown out like moving out of the country, starting our own business, joining friends in an overseas investment and simply taking exploratory vacations. Which of those ideas will work I do not know yet but now is the time for change. Step one...remove unneccessary belongings and hone skills to be used internationally. UCSD crafts center, Craigslist, Ebay and Goodwill here I come.

I saw these wine bottles by JAQK on Oh Joy! and am completely blown away by the graphic designs. These would be gorgeous on a great wooden shelf in a clean modern kitchen. I hope the wine is good :)

Fall Forward?

As much as I missed having a sun and sand filled summer, I have to admit I am looking forward to fall. Sweaters, scarves, belts and layers make me smile. I love you summer...but bring on Fall!

Tastiness

Jerome and I had a blast at Taste at the Cove last night. We were lucky enough to sit at an awesome VIP lounge table right next to the runway and invite our friends Verity and Lucky. The food and drinks were fantastic and the celebrity spotting was entertaining. More photos to come! Thanks THI!!

HBO's Bryant Park Summer Film Festival plays classic movies of every genre on Monday nights from June-August. Even though I know I could find outdoor movie nights in San Diego, there is just something so stylish and desireable about it being in New York. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the city.

Remodeling

Jerome and I have been "home improving" for almost a year now. I am ready to be done but one big project we have yet to complete is refacing the cabinets. The plan right now is to go with white shaker style doors with a simple brushed nickel handle. I can't wait to place the order and have an awesome complete kitchen.
